Manufacturing District; Southern Iran Loribaft Material; Wool with cotton warp Number of knots; About 300 - 320,000 knots per square meter. Recently, a finer version of the Gabbeh carpets has become popular, they are called Loribaft. The carpets have a higher knot density, shorter pile and more structured design mostly created for the European and American market. They are tied in the Ghasqai province in southern Iran. The term Gabbeh comes from the Persian "uncut". It refers to the style of carpet used by the nomadic tribes of southwestern Iran. The long pile and dense wool texture meant that the Gabbeh rugs were used as floors in the tents of the Ghashqai and Lori tribes. The rich natural colors come from natural dyes in plants and shrubs and are used to dye the wool that is knitted with. The design of the Gabbeh rugs is inspired by nature, this can be seen in the rugs' animal and plant motifs. With a combination of strong colors and simple linear design, the Gabbeh rugs have gained a lot of attention. This has led to mass-produced imitations outside of Iran. These rugs do not have the quality or originality found in the Iranian rugs so this is something to be careful about when buying Gabbeh rugs. When buying carpets from Mattkompaniet, you get a guarantee of authenticity, right of exchange. Open purchase; 2 weeks Free delivery within Sweden.
