The coloring of the Kerman rugs is as varied as it is brilliant. Blue to golden tones adorn these magnificent rugs. One can also detect western influences among some designs.
Kerman in southeastern Iran was a major center for the dyeing of ancient carpets known as Persian miniature paintings. As the city escaped invasion, the arts flourished in the province and the carpets were of high quality. The most unique and exclusive Kerman carpets are Lavar or Ravar Kerman. Generally the carpets are called Lavar but Ravar is the correct name. The carpets are made in the village of Ravar and are mainly known for the fine knot density and their elegance. Most Ravar Kerman rugs have a signature, either of the person who will receive the rug or of the person who tied the rug. The Tree of Life is one of the most famous patterns among the Laver Kerman rugs.
Kerman carpets are available in all sizes with wool and cotton warp and in some cases the carpet has wool with silk elements.
