The Karachi carpets, which are also called Bokhara, have several different colors but the patterns are similar. They are available in many sizes, from very small, 30x30 centimeters, to very large, 400x300 centimeters. The old rugs that the Turkmen knotted had a wool warp while the newer ones have a cotton warp. Woolen rugs are most common, but there are also Karachi rugs with silk elements. As always, you have to be careful about the quality you buy. There are cheap replicas of silk rugs that are made from artificial silk. They often lack the high quality otherwise common among Karachi and Bokhara rugs. Wool from New Zealand is often used to get the fine, shiny and soft quality.
